General Information for BYU Dietetic Internship Preceptors

On this page you will find

  • A link to the BYU Dietetic Internship Mission and Goals. We plan our courses and rotations to achieve the program objectives and prepare interns for entry level practice.
  • A copy of the preceptor handbook. The handbook has specific information for each rotation including tips for preceptors, activities interns should complete, competencies interns will achieve, and evaluations.
  • Evaluation forms for various rotations that can be downloaded and/or printed at the preceptor's convenience.
  • Information about CEU credit for precepting interns and the Academy Preceptor Training program.

Handbooks

Preceptor CEUs and Training

You can record 3 CEUs each year for precepting dietetic interns/students with a maximum of 15 credits in a five year period. To document your hours you will need a signed Preceptor Reflection and Verification form, which dietetic internship directors can provide. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics offers a Dietetics Preceptor Training Program to help preceptors prepare to be teachers, coaches, and mentors for dietetic interns/students. Participants can receive up to 8 CEUs by completed the various training modules that cover everything from preparing for student learning to managing time to communicating effectively.
