Posted: Oct. 15, 2025

The USPHS Commissioned Corps Dietitian Professional Advisory Committee (DietPAC) invites you, your students/interns, and recent graduates to attend a virtual recruitment presentation. We will provide an overview of public health opportunities within the USPHS Commissioned Corps for dietitians, followed by a career panel with a Q&A session.

The US Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps is one of the eight uniformed services of the United States, and our mission is to protect, promote, and advance the health and safety of our Nation. In recent years, the USPHS Commissioned Corps has deployed in support of numerous natural disasters (i.e., Hurricanes Sandy, Harvey, Maria, and Irma, etc.) and public health emergencies (i.e., H1N1 pandemic, Ebola Crisis 2014-15, and the COVID-19 pandemic). USPHS Commissioned Corps dietitian officers have diverse skill sets and serve in a variety of roles, including research, clinical nutrition, food service administration, public health nutrition, health policy, regulatory affairs, and managerial and supervisory roles.

Most dietitian officers are stationed within federal agencies such as Indian Health Service (IHS), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center of Disease and Control (CDC), and the Bureau of Prisons (BOP). USPHS Commissioned Corps officers enjoy leadership opportunities, excellent pay and benefits, and work/life balance, all while improving the health and safety of the Nation.
