Financing Your Education

Scholarships are available from department, college, university, private, and federal sources. Those who receive departmental scholarships are honored at our annual awards banquet. Also, students can avail themselves of mentoring opportunities and summer internships, most of which are paid experiences. For further information on financing your education, contact the BYU Financial Aid Office.

Scholarships

Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) Scholarships
Applications will be available:
Graduate and Junior/Senior: Mid-February
Freshman: Mid-February
Sophomore: Mid-February

Department and College Scholarships
There is one application for these scholarships.
Applications become available in January and they are due early in Winter Semester. For exact deadlines see the College Scholarships Website.

University Scholarships
Students may apply for these scholarships online through Route Y. Most scholarships are awarded based on grade point average, and the cutoffs vary from year to year, depending on the number of applicants and the funds available.
The deadline for continuing students is March 1 for Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter scholarships.

International Association of Food Industry Suppliers (IAFIS) Scholarships
Materials are sent to Universities in the Fall.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security Undergraduate Scholarships
Applications are due in February.
