Biography

Julie Duncan is an Associate Teaching Professor and Director of the Didactic Program in Dietetics in the Department of Nutrition, Dietetics, and Food Science at Brigham Young University (BYU). She earned her Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Utah in 1998, following a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics with an Administrative Emphasis from BYU in 1993.

Prior to her current role, Julie has been an Adjunct BYU Dietetics faculty member for the past 25 years, devoted to educating future dietitians. Over the course of her career, she has taught a variety of dietetics management courses, including managing a student- operated restaurant. She has had the opportunity to participate in accreditation self-studies and site reviews, as well as serving on committees within the NDFS Department. Julie was the co-advisor for the Student Dietetic Association for eight years.

Julie has been ServSafe Certified since 2003, and has served as a ServSafe Certified Instructor and Proctor since 2011. She has received several honors, including the Adjunct Faculty Excellence Award from BYU in 2021 and the Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year Award from the Utah Dietetic Association in 2005. Julie is passionate about teaching and mentoring dietetics students and committed to advancing the BYU Dietetics program.
